01/06: Welcome!
This whole 'Allergy' thing started when our good friend, Matt nearly blew out a lung, coughing uncontrollably as he descended Lookout Mountain coming back into Denver from an extended camping trip with his bro Tom. After composing himself, it hit him: he was obviously "Allergic to Cities".
From this humble proclamation sprang the concept for an adventure in expression which has found roots in various "allergies" around the world. Some serious - some frivolous - but all very real! The more we talk to people, the more we find we're not alone in our maladies. Personally, I'd rather be on or in the water... Therefore, I figure I must be "Allergic to Land". When a skydiving friend confided that he had that same "allergy" I guessed we might be on to something universal. Soon, I noticed my daughters dogs were "Allergic to Cats". And their cats were "Allergic to Dogs". All my skiing friends seem "Allergic to Summer".
Then there's the whole routine of everyday life. When we returned from our recent trip to Belize, I realized that like almost everybody else, we too, are most definitely, "Allergic to Work." This seems to be the most common illness among us all.
Then there's a whole slew of political allergies. My conservative friends are "Allergic to Liberals" and my leftie friends are "Allergic to Bush". Many find "Intolerance", "War", and "Impossibilities" to make them feel sick.
I guess there's no end to our assumed illnesses. But I have noticed it does make people feel better when they can express themselves in a fun, yet honest way. We all take on too much in our daily lives. Maybe it's time to kick back a bit and have more fun. What the heck, It can't hurt and you'll probably find new like-minded souls are just a shout away. Come on...declare your allergy. What makes you tick or what makes you sick?
We hope you'll feel free to join in our BLOG and share your thoughts and your ideas for solutions. Open dialog is the beginning of making us all feel better.
